RE2 NARRATIVE

An Experience that Taught Me a Valuable Lesson

A few days before my 7th birthday, my grandparents knocked to our house around mid-afternoon and said, "Sophia! We've got a surprise for you!" I hurriedly ran down the stairs, thrilled of what my grandparents got for me.
As I rushed through the door, my eyes literally glimmered as what awaited me were two cute and fluffy white rabbits inside a cage, a boy rabbit with brown spots and a girl rabbit with dark grey spots. I jumped up and down for joy, gave my grandparents a really tight hug, and thanked them over and over again because they fulfilled my top-of-the-list birthday wish. I immediately named the boy rabbit, Bugsy and the girl rabbit, Lola. Three weeks had passed, it was a perfect sunny afternoon so my sister and I thought of playing with the rabbits in our garden. As we were outside, we decided to unlock the rabbits' cage so that they can freely hop around and play with us. While my sister and I became busy playing tag, we became unmindful of the rabbits, when suddenly we heard a loud cry from afar. Frightened, we rapidly ran to the sound of the cry and found Bugsy with a bite on his leg and blood all over him. I saw a cat nearby so I assumed it was the one who bit Bugsy. To this, I immediately burst into tears, placed Lola back in their cage, and quickly ran towards the house to call my mom for help. My mom, being a doctor, did her best to make Bugsy feel better. She casted a bandage around his leg and gave him medicines to try to ease his pain. Watching my favorite pet get weaker by the day made me feel devastated. I kept on wishing for Bugsy to heal fast so I could play with him again. But a week later, Bugsy couldn't fight to live and finally passed away. This experience made me totally miserable but taught me a valuable lesson. At a young age, this event made me appreciate everyone and everything I have at this moment, especially my family and my friends, because I can never tell when they will be gone in my life. As the cliché saying goes, "People come and go." I always try to remind myself each day that, as much as possible, I should cherish every moment shared with the people I love and treasure the most.
